José Guillermo Ortiz, who United acquired on loan several weeks ago from Costa Rican side CS Herediano, has been called into the Costa Rican national team for the upcoming 2017 Copa Centroamericana tournament. The round-robin competition, also known as the Central American Cup, is being held in Panama from January 13-22. Costa Rica, one of six teams in the UNCAF (Central American Football Union) tournament, play their first match on Jan. 13 against El Salvador.
Ortiz, 24, will report to United preseason camp following the conclusion of Costa Rica's participation in the tournament. The forward will be looking to make his first appearance for Los Ticos.
