D.C. United play their fifth and final friendly of the 2021 Preseason presented by Leidos against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m. ET. The friendly on Saturday will be United’s third match this preseason against MLS competition. In previous matches against MLS opponents, the Black-and-Red lost 2-0 against the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, March 31 and then fell 2-1 to New York City FC in their most recent preseason friendly on Sunday, April 4. This will be the Black-and-Red’s final 2021 Preseason friendly before their first 2021 MLS Regular Season match against New York City FC at Audi Field on Saturday, April 17 at 8 p.m. ET.
In their previous friendly on Sunday, April 4, D.C. United lost 2-1 to New York City FC at the Power Training Complex in Chester, PA. The lone goal for United was scored by Kimarni Smith in the 29th minute after Edison Flores played in a cross from the left side which Smith converted for his second goal of the 2021 preseason. Yamil Asad also received an assist on the goal after playing a perfectly weighted through ball to Flores on the wing.
