Gudmundur Thórarinsson was able to find a late equalizer in the 90th minute to earn a point for New York as they push to get above the playoff line. NYCFC ended the night with 45.7% possession and four shots on target.
D.C. United have an all-time record of 5-8-3 against New York City FC. The last time the two faced each other was on June 27 at Yankee Stadium, where Thiago Andrade found a late game-winner in second-half stoppage time for New York City. Both D.C. United and New York City have 41 points, with D.C. United sitting in seventh place and New York in eighth place in the standings.
