D.C. United (2-10-5, 11 pts.) return to Audi Field to face the Philadelphia Union for their 18th match of the 2020 MLS Regular Season on Wednesday, October 14 at 8 p.m. EST. The Black-and-Red have six regular season games remaining to chase down a playoff spot and will be looking for a much needed three points.

In their last match, the first under Interim Head Coach Chad Ashton, United held a majority of possession and outshot Chicago Fire FC 14-7 (6-3 in shots on goal), but unfortunately found themselves on the losing end of a 2-1 score line, after conceding two set piece goals in the first half.

Despite going down early, the Black-and-Red responded well in the second half. After a bright start, Joseph Mora broke down the left wing after a tidy sequence of build up play and his shot was deflected into the net for an own goal by Chicago Defender, Jonathan Bornstein. Edison Flores, who entered the match as a substitute in the 59th minute, made his first appearance in over six weeks as he recovered from a facial fracture.  The Peruvian international provided an immediate offensive spark and tried his luck in the 71st minute when his shot stinged the gloves of the Chicago goalkeeper. Ola Kamara's effort was the closest the Black-and-Red got to an equalizer when his shot cannoned off the crossbar in the 68th minute. Despite their dominance in the second half and the impressive display from Flores, D.C. United were unable to score again and the match finished 2-1 in favor of Chicago Fire FC.

The Philadelphia Union will enter Wednesday’s match in a good run of form, having won six of their last eight, including a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Impact on Sunday. D.C. United are 10-16-4 all-time against the second-place team in the Eastern Conference.

D.C. United against the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. EST will be broadcast on WJLA 24/7 News and streamed on www.dcunited.com.
