D.C. United are set to play their fifth match of the 2021 Major League Soccer Regular Season against Chicago Fire FC on Thursday, May 13 at 8 p.m. EST. D.C. United will look to snap their three game losing streak as they make their return to Audi Field on Thursday night.

In their last match, D.C. United lost 3-1 to reigning MLS Cup Champions Columbus SC on Saturday, May 8 at Historic Crew Stadium. United suffered two unfortunate own goals in the second half and were unable to complete the comeback despite Ola Kamara scoring his first goal of the season after coming on as a substitute late in the second half. Lucas Zelarayan scored the lone goal of the first half, converting a well-taken free kick into the left corner to open the scoring in the 19th minute. United responded well and controlled most of the first half but went into halftime down 1-0.

The first goal in the second half came in the 64th minute when a cross from the left wing took an unfortunate deflection off Frédéric Brillant and ended up in his own net to double the Columbus lead. The Black-and-Red cut into that deficit in the 82nd minute when Edison Flores put in a perfect through-ball that left second-half substitute Ola Kamara with a one-on-one with the goalkeeper that he finished with a left-footed strike into the bottom right corner. One minute later, Columbus scored off an own goal by Tony Alfaro that ended up putting the match out of reach for United. The match ended 3-1 in favor of Columbus.

This will be the 63rd all-time regular season meeting between the two teams. D.C. United has a 23-21-18 record against Chicago in their club’s history and boast a 16-9-6 record against them at home. United have never lost to Chicago in the two matches they’ve played at Audi Field. The last time the two sides played at Audi Field they drew 3-3 in an exciting, high-scoring match on May 29, 2019.

D.C. United against Chicago Fire FC on Thursday night at 8 p.m. EST at Audi Field will be broadcast on NBC Sports Washington+ and TeleXitos and can be streamed on www.dcunited.com.
