Match Preview – D.C. United vs. Charlotte FC | Saturday, October 4, 2025 | 2:30 PM | Audi Field
D.C. United returns home to Audi Field this Saturday, October 4, for their final home match of the 2025 MLS season against Charlotte FC with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. The Black-and-Red will look to bounce back quickly after a heavy 6-0 defeat on the road against the Philadelphia Union on Sept. 27. Head Coach René Weiler and his squad have flipped the page immediately to focus on Saturday’s matchup, eager to respond in front of their home supporters on Fan Appreciation Night.
Charlotte FC are coming off a 4-1 home loss to CF Montréal and will be without center back Adilson Malanda, who was sent off in the 20th minute of that match. D.C. United will also be without midfielder Brandon Servania, who is suspended for yellow card accumulation. Homegrown midfielder Jackson Hopkins, a late scratch against Philadelphia, is expected to be available for selection this weekend.
The Black-and-Red defense will need to neutralize Pep Biel, who scored twice in Charlotte’s 2-1 victory on July 16, 2025. Gabriel Pirani scored United’s lone goal in that match and the Brazilian will be relied on by Weiler to unlock the opposing team’s defense this Saturday. D.C. United will need to keep a close watch on Pep Biel and Idan Toklomati, who have combined for 21 goals this season, while captain Christian Benteke is set to face former Crystal Palace teammate Wilfried Zaha, a key catalyst for Charlotte since arriving on loan from Galatasaray ahead of the 2025 campaign.
With only two matches left in the 2025 MLS season, D.C. United will aim to finish strong in front of their home fans. Staying compact defensively, limiting Charlotte’s attacking weapons, and capitalizing on Audi Field momentum will be key for the Black-and-Red to secure three points on Fan Appreciation Night in the District.
