After taking a point from their match against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, D.C. United are back in action.

The Black-and-Red look to round out their road trip with 3 points on Tuesday night when they visit Children’s Mercy Park for the first time since 2018.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET with pre-match coverage starting at 8 p.m. ET on

Last Time Out

D.C. United recorded their second consecutive clean sheet against Real Salt Lake.

Ochoa put together another impressive performance in his first matchup against his former club. He recorded seven saves and his second consecutive shutout, earning him a place on the MLS Team of the Week.

After the match, Head Coach Wayne Rooney said he was pleased with Ochoa and the entire group for the character they showed, particularly to maintain the clean sheet at the end of the game.

“We showed a really strong mentality to keep a clean sheet,” he said during his post-match press conference. “Two clean sheets in a row will help us moving forward.”

With D.C. United captain Steven Birnbaum back in the fold following a yellow card suspension, the Black-and-Red will look to make it three in a row and build momentum heading into next season.

Scouting Report

Sporting Kansas City are unbeaten in their last four matches and with four matches remaining in the regular season, their playoff hopes are slim but still alive.

D.C. could put an end to that on Tuesday. To do so, they’ll need to find their mark again on the offensive end, likely without Taxi Fountas who has missed the last three matches as he goes through concussion protocols. DP forward Christian Benteke has created a number of chances in his first few matches with the Black-and-Red. Now it’s just a matter of putting them away.

Kortne Ford, Sporting’s starting centerback, will likely return to the lineup following a red card suspension, but the squad is riddled with injuries.

Next Home Match

The Black-and-Red will return to Audi Field on Sunday, September 18 to take on Inter Miami FC in the penultimate home match of the season.
