Match Preview: D.C. United at New York City FC | Sunday, May 3, 2026

D.C. United travel to Citi Field this Sunday, May 3 for an Eastern Conference matchup against New York City FC in the club's eleventh match of the 2026 MLS season. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. ET in New York. The Black-and-Red enter the weekend at 3-4-3 with 12 points, looking to build on Saturday's 3-2 comeback win over Orlando City SC and earn back-to-back victories for the first time in 2026.

Saturday's win at Audi Field showed the character of this group. Defender Kye Rowles headed home his first goal of the season in the 90th minute to complete a comeback from 2-1 down, while forward Louis Munteanu scored his first career MLS goal in the 84th minute to set up the late finish. Midfielder Jackson Hopkins continued his run of form with the opening goal, his second of the season. Head Coach René Weiler will look to carry that momentum onto the road on Sunday. Forward Tai Baribo, who missed Saturday's match, will be assessed ahead of Sunday's contest. With six goals in eight starts on the season, the Israeli forward's return would be a significant addition to the attack.
