D.C. United will play the first match of the inaugural Capital Cup Tournament at Audi Field on Wednesday, July 7 against Liga Deportiva Alajuelense with kickoff set for 8 p.m. EST. United will look to start the International Break on a high note on Wednesday night when they face off against one of the most decorated clubs in all of Central America in their first of two matches of the inaugural Capital Cup.

With a number of players from D.C. United out on International duty, the matchday roster will feature a combination of players from D.C. United and Loudoun United FC, the Black-and-Red's United Soccer League (USL) Championship affiliate team. The members of Loudoun United who will be joining D.C. United’s matchday roster on Wednesday night include Kairou Amoustapha, Jovanny Bolívar, Nicky Downs, Jacob Greene, Nanan Houssou, Ted Ku-DiPietro, Hassan Pinto, Gaossou Samaké, and Allexon Saravia. D.C. United loanees to Loudoun United, Kimarni Smith and Jacob Greene, will also feature.

Liga Deportiva Alajuelense competes in the Primera División in Costa Rica, the top domestic league in the country. Alajuelense has won the Primera División 30 times and are also two-time winners of the CONCACAF Champions League since the club was founded in 1919. D.C. United last faced them on March 4, 2015 in a CONCACAF Champions League match at RFK Stadium where United won 2-1.

The Capital Cup is a new annual international soccer tournament hosted at Audi Field that will feature prominent teams from around the globe, including four-time Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup Champions, D.C. United. The schedule for the inaugural Capital Cup is below:

8:00 p.m. EST: D.C. United vs. Liga Deportiva Alajuelense

Sunday July 11

5:30 p.m. EST: D.C. United vs. Alianza FC

Wednesday, July 14

8:00 p.m. EST: Alianza FC vs. Liga Deportiva Alajuelense

The team with the most points at the conclusion of the tournament will be crowned the first-ever Capital Cup Champions. Tickets for all matches can be found here.
