WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 2, 2023) – Inova Sports Medicine has expanded its professional athletic team care by partnering with D.C. United. This partnership makes D.C. United the fourth professional sports team under the care of Inova.

“We are excited that Inova will be joining the D.C. United family this season as our sports medicine partner. The excellent care provided by the Inova team will help ensure our team stays healthy on the field, positioning us to deliver the best performance for our fans continually,” said Danita Johnson, President of Business Operations for D.C. United.

Since 2015, Inova Sports Medicine has grown to include a diverse group of fellowship-trained sports medicine physicians, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, advanced practice providers, neuropsychologists, athletic trainers, and physical therapists.

“Professional sports teams in the area have experienced Inova’s unmatched standard of care and the addition of D.C. United is a sign that we are the preferred sports medicine group in the DMV,” said Robin West, MD, Chairman of Inova Sports Medicine. The addition of D.C. United allows another opportunity for our staff to provide world-class medical care and bring new techniques to our patients.”

The lead Inova physician for D.C. United will be Peter MacArthur, MD, a board-certified and fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician. He has an active role as a provider for an MLB team and previously served as a team physician in the NFL.
