Though most Americans have today off to celebrate the last year's worth of labor, United's players were at RFK for a couple hours with their sights set on Wednesday night's Open Cup final. Everyone who is healthy played signifcant minutes against New York over the weekend - either in the first team's 0-0 draw on Saturday or in the reserve's 2-1 win on Sunday - so the team gathered for a couple of runs, a long stretch and training room treatment today.
A few injury updates out of the locker room...
- Quavas Kirk suffered a mid-foot sprain in Sunday's reserve game and will be listed as 'out' on the injury report this week.
- Luciano Emilio, who pulled himself out of Saturday's match just before halftime, has a slight groin strain and is listed as 'probable.'
- Fellow Brazilian, Fred (hamstring strain), has been upgraded from 'out' to 'probable.'
- And finally, Ben Olsen (ankle surgery), Francis Doe (foot infection) and Marcelo Gallardo (hernia surgery) - all listed as 'questionable' last week, have been upgraded to 'probable.' Gallardo got minutes on Saturday, Olsen played a half on Sunday and Doe played a bit on both Saturday and Sunday.
The team will train as they normally do tomorrow in advance of Wednesday's big game.
