The Argentine scored two goals, recorded a career-high six shots on goal, won four fouls and was named the team's Man of the Match.

In the 39th minute, Chris Rolfe snuck in behind the Whitecaps' back line and got away a shot aimed at the back post.  Vancouver goalkeeper David Ousted dove to his left and parried, but the rebound landed at Espíndola's feet and the MLS veteran tucked the ball home for the game's opening goal.

In the second half, Espíndola again played the poacher role to perfection, tapping home another rebound in the 54th minute off a Steven Birnbaum header that banged off the crossbar.

The goals were Espíndola's second and third of the season and 62nd and 63rd of his career, good for eighth among active players.

United and Espíndola return to RFK Stadium Saturday at 5 PM, hosting Sebastian Giovinco and Toronto FC. The match will air on NewsChannel 8.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
