D.C. United have signed goalkeeper Tally Hall following an impressive two-week training stint.

“Tally is an experienced MLS goalkeeper with a very successful resume,” Dave Kasper, United general manager and VP of soccer operations, said. “His knowledge of the game and our league, combined with his veteran presence,  will provide necessary depth and competition at the goalkeeper position.”

Hall started 23 matches for Orlando City SC in 2015, making 73 saves and recording a 1.78 goals against average.  The team went 10-8-5 in games he started, and Hall went on to win the Orlando City Fans’ Player of the Year Award.

The seven-year MLS veteran has started 153 matches over his career, recording 40 shutouts.  Hall is a two-time MLS All-Star, making the roster in 2011 and 2013.

After being drafted by the LA Galaxy in 2007, he spent two seasons in Denmark with Esbjerg but returned to MLS in 2009 with the Houston Dynamo.  He would go on to set club records for shutouts in a regular season (12), consecutive regular season starts at goalkeeper (57) and postseason shutouts (5) from 2009-2014.

Hall will join United in San Jose for their match against the Quakes on Saturday, April 2, at 10:30 pm EDT.
