WomenEmpowerment

D.C. United announced today that the club will dedicate their platform to Educate, Empower, and Enrich Black-and-Red supporters on the contributions and impact that women have made both on and off the soccer field during Women’s History Month in March.

Educate: D.C. United will celebrate major moments in women’s soccer history that occurred in the nation’s capital. In March, D.C. United will educate supporters about events, such as the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the first professional women’s soccer match held in the United States that took place in 2001 between the Washington Freedom and the Bay Area CyberRays.

Empower: Throughout March, D.C. United will highlight individual women in the club’s front office across their social media properties, focusing on their contributions to the business and the advice they have for the next generation of women in sports.

Enrich: D.C. United have partnered with DC SCORES to host a special Q&A event with Black-and-Red President of Business Operations, Danita Johnson. Young female students from the DC SCORES program will get an opportunity to engage and ask questions about Johnson’s career in sports.
