WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 18, 2025) - D.C. United has selected University of Maryland defender Lasse Kelp with the 85th overall selection in the Third Round of the 2026 MLS SuperDraft.
Kelp appeared in 51 matches (51 starts), scoring four goals and recording two assists for UMBC from 2022 to 2024 before transferring to the University of Maryland. The German native appeared in 19 matches (19 starts) for Maryland in 2025, scoring one goal and adding three assists on his way to being named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist.
