D.C. United have announced that Estonian forward Erik Sorga will join VVV-Venlo in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch soccer, on loan for the remainder of the 2021 season.

“We want to thank Erik for all of his hard work and commitment to the club this year,” Dave Kasper, D.C. United President of Soccer Operations, said. “We wish him all the best in Holland for the remainder of the 2021 season.”

Sorga joined the Black-and-Red on Jan. 29, 2020 after being acquired from D.C. United’s United Soccer League (USL) affiliate, Loudoun United FC. Sorga scored his first career MLS goal in the 1-0 win against the New York Red Bulls on Sept. 2, 2020; a 98th-minute game-winner. In total, Sorga has scored one goal in 21 appearances for the Black-and-Red.
