DMV Roundup: Richmond Kickers and Washington Spirit

The Black-and-Red returned from Philly with 3 more points to its name this weekend, but United wasn’t alone. The Richmond Kickers beat Arizona United SC 4-0 at City Stadium on Friday night, with plenty of DCU players making an impact.

Richmond Kickers:

Four D.C. United players were in the starting lineup for the Kickers on Friday, including Joe Willis in net, Conor Shanosky, Taylor Kempand Collin Martin. The scoring began in the 50th minute, when George Davis IV found the back of the net off a Collin Martin assist. Then, Kemp found Matthew Delicâte for a 62nd minute goal, followed by a tally from Christiano François from an Alex Lee pass in the 84th. Finally, the Kickers tallied its fourth goal via an Arizona own goal in the 88th minute of the match.

Washington Spirit:

The Washington Spirit traveled to Kansas City to take on FCKC on Sunday. KC tallied first, with a goal from Amy Rodriguez in the 36th minute, but the Spirit fought back in the 63rd when Danesha Adams evened the score. Just a minute later, though, Rodriguez completed her brace, finding the net in 64th, which would go on to be the game-winner.
