It is a beautiful day in Washington, D.C. With temperatures around 70 degrees, the Black-and-Red hit the training field for a good session. After a passing drill, the team moved on to a full-field scrimmage and ended the day with some finishing.
Update on Luis Silva
After suffering a mild concussion against Chicago on August 7th, D.C. United's leading scorer Luis Silva has been cleared for full participation. Silva passed his final concussion test earlier this afternoon and is set to rejoin training tomorrow.
Stefan Cebara is currently on trial here in D.C. The Canadian citizen has played in both Serbia and Slovenia. As a midfielder, Cebara has worked his way through the Canadian youth levels and made his first Full National Team appearance on March 22, 2013 as a substitute for Kyle Bekker in a 2-1 loss to Japan.
RJ Allen is on trial with D.C. United this week, as well. Allen, a New Jersey native, played at Monmouth University before being selected in the 2012 Supplemental Draft by Chivas USA. Allen most recently played in the Danish First Division for Skive IK.
A look back:
Ahead of this weekend’s matchup against the Montreal Impact, we take a look back to our last meeting with the Canadian side. On August 3, the Impact visited RFK and left empty-handed. Luis Silva’s 19th minute strike was canceled by a Jeb Brovsky finish in the 52nd minute. Conor Doyle, though, netted his first MLS goal, putting away a James Riley cross in the 86th minute, giving DCU a 2-1 lead. Jared Jeffrey also got in on the action in extra time, scoring his first MLS goal courtesy of Doyle’s first MLS assist. Collin Martin also earned an MLS first, impressing during his first MLS minutes.
