D.C. United captain Dwayne De Rosario took over tonight's semifinal match against the Chicago Fire. A proven goal scorer, De Rosario netted his 5th goal in this year's Open Cup, putting United up 1-0 just before half time. The talented forward led this youthful squad in fine form, going 90 minutes and playing with unrivaled passion and hunger .
“He lead us tonight," said Head Coach Ben Olsen. "His last two games he has played hungry and the guys are feeding off that. When Dwayne plays in that manner it is easy to get behind him and follow his lead.”
"To be a part of this Semifinal was huge for me," said De Rosario. "I really wanted to come here and like I said in a tough environment where we struggled to show these guys we could come out with a win, and I wanted to set the tone and lead these guys. And thankfully, I was able to do that.”
United will take on Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium on October 1. But first, DCU returns to League play to take on the Union in Philadelphia this Saturday.
