After a day off, D.C. United endured the rain and trained hard in preparation for Saturday’s match against the Montreal Impact. The Black-and-Red warmed up, played possession, then moved onto a full-field scrimmage to end the session.
Chris Pontius update
Though Chris Pontius didn’t train during today’s session, he did get in some fitness. The talented midfielder/forward is recovering from a hamstring injury and was sidelined for both the Chicago matchup and United’s most recent battle against New England. Pontius jogged the lengths of the field and sprinted the widths, working to get his fitness back, having last trained July 19.
Bill Hamid rejoins DCU
Bill Hamid enjoyed his first training session since winning the Gold Cup with the United States Men’s National Team last Sunday night, beating Panama 1-0. Hamid did not see action in the Gold Cup matches but trained hard at a high level for almost a month.
Lionard Pajoy undergoes surgery
D.C. United forward Lionard Pajoy underwent surgery yesterday to repair his left inguinal hernia. Pajoy has found the net twice for the Black-and-Red this season. The Colombian forward is projected to miss six weeks for recovery.
