D.C. United Showcase to take place in Roanoke, Va., on June 16

D.C. United today announced, in collaboration with Blacksburg High School Soccer, New River United SA, Radford SC, Roanoke Star SC, Christiansburg Soccer Club, and Hidden Valley High School that its U-23 squad will put on a showcase in Roanoke, Va., on June 16 at Dwight Bogle Stadium
. The event will feature a clinic for kids ages 7-12 and an exhibition game between the Black-and-Red U-23s and Roanoke Star SC. An opportunity for local youth to take the field with top-tier D.C. United U-23 staff and players, the clinic will include interactive elements straight from the Academy training program.

“D.C. United Showcase is an important exercise in enhancing our brand in outer rings of our regional footprint,” said D.C. United Chief Marketing Officer Doug Hicks. “We look forward to hosting several of these events each summer, bringing talented young professional prospects, accomplished legends of the club and training opportunities to important markets. Personally, this first showcase is especially meaningful, as United has established a partnership with youth clubs that I played for and against, by activating a meaningful event in a place I call home.”

Ages: 7-12 year olds, male and female
Date: Sunday, June 16
Time: 2-3:30 p.m. (clinic); 4 p.m. (exhibition game vs. Roanoke Star FC)
Clinic Price: $10 -REGISTER
Clinic Price includes: Registration for one (1) participant in the clinic, and a game ticket to the June 16 D.C. United U-23 exhibition match vs. Roanoke Star SC. 
Additional Ticket Prices: $7
Additional Match Price includes: One (1) ticket to the exhibition match.



About the D.C. United U-23s:

D.C. United’s U-23 team features top collegiate, international and domestic players. Led by D.C United legend Jaime Moreno, the squad will work and learn from one of the most accomplished players in MLS history. Moreno is assisted by D.C. United’s U-18 Academy Head Coach Nolan Sheldon and U-16 Academy Head Coach Tom Torres.


On Feb. 25, D.C. United formed a partnership with the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) side Federal City FC, which will allow the team to compete in the NPSL’s Southeast Conference this summer.
