As was reported last week, Chris Pontius suffered a groin injury in training on Thursday. The D.C. United midfielder did not travel to Columbus this past weekend as the team lost 0-3 to the Crew.
While the team was in Columbus, Pontius had an MRI to assess the severity of the injury. The results showed a Grade 1 strain, which is more mild than was originally thought. The midfielder's return date is still to be determined, but he could be back in time for the May 8 match against the Houston Dynamo.
