AMSTERDAM — Sochaux forward Charlie Davies remains outside the first team selection, but will take part in Saturday's reserve match despite suffering a thigh strain earlier in the week.
The 25-year-old was back in full training on Friday morning, quickly putting the minor setback in the rearview mirror to make the team sheet for the second team's clash with AS Moulins.
"He was out of training two days with a kind of thigh injury," Sochaux press officer Stijn Slaats told MLSsoccer.com. "He just took a bit of rest and worked out in the gym."
Les Lionceaux boss Mehmed Baždarević discussed the match fitness of Davies, who is awaiting his first appearance for the Ligue 1 club since being seriously injured in a fatal car accident in October of 2009.
"He said it's just a little too early for him to be in the first 18," Slaats said. "Charlie hasn't played a first team match since last October with D.C. United. He still lacks a bit of rhythm, but he's getting there."
Sochaux are currently next-to-bottom in the table thanks to a six-game win drought, but could jump as many as six spots with a win at Saint-Étienne on Saturday.
