D.C. United announces 2011 MLS schedule

Washington, D.C. – D.C. United announced today its 2011 Major League Soccer regular season schedule. Winners of 12 major domestic and international titles, D.C. United kicks off its 16th campaign on Saturday, March 19 at RFK Stadium against the Columbus Crew. United will play a 34-game, balanced schedule, participating in a home and away series against all 17 other MLS franchises.

A variety of ticket plans are now on sale through the D.C. United office at 202-587-5000 and online at dcunited.com. Upscale seating for full season plans – either club section, private or semi-private boxes, or field level seating – is also available and includes premium services such as meal service, complimentary parking and VIP access. Youth discounted pricing remains an option for all plans. The First Kick Pack, featuring four tickets to the home opener and a limited edition Andy Najar autographed poster, is also available at dcunited.com. Individual game tickets will go on sale on ticketmaster.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets beginning Friday, February 18 at 10:00 am.


United’s home schedule features compelling match-ups throughout the slate. Visits from the LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls highlight April clashes with MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids and runner-up FC Dallas set for games in May. League newcomers Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the Portland Timbers will make August appearances while Eastern Conference rivals the Chicago Fire and Sporting Kansas City close out the season in October.


The Black-and-Red will be featured six times on national television, highlighted by ESPN2 appearances against the Red Bulls April 21, at the Fire on August 18 and at the Philadelphia Union on September 29. Spanish language partners Telefutura and Galavision will air United games at Colorado April 3, against the Houston Dynamo June 25 and at Sporting Kansas City August 21, respectively. Additional regional television plans will be announced at a later date.


D.C. United’s full playing calendar will include competitions in other domestic and international events. Dates and times will be announced as games are set.
