Christian Castillo called-up by El Salvador National Team

Washington, D.C. (March 1, 2010) - D.C. United announced today midfielder Christian Castillo has been called-up to the El Salvador National Team for an international friendly against Guatemala on Wednesday, March 3 in Los Angeles. Castillo is scheduled to join his Salvadoran teammates this evening in Los Angeles and report back to United’s preseason training camp on Friday, March 5.


Castillo joined United on December 18, 2009 on loan from Mexico’s second division club Leon FC. The 25-year-old midfielder has earned 32 caps and scored three goals with El Salvador’s National Team. He earned his first cap on April 23, 2008, playing in a friendly against China. He scored his first international goal in August that same year, the lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Trinidad and Tobago at RFK Stadium. His next two goals in El Salvador’s jersey came in World Cup Qualifying, both against the United States.
