League homestand begins

With just six League games remaining in the 2009 regular season, United is right in the thick of a closely contested playoff race. With 33 points, United is currently tied - with New England, Chivas USA and Real Salt Lake - for the final two playoff spots. The good news for United fans is that the team begins a five game League homestand Wednesday against the Kansas City Wizards. The only remaining League road game is the season finale in Kansas City on Oct. 24.

Matters are (of course) complicated by CONCACAF Champions League, as United faces four more Group B games, which include trips to Trinidad (vs. Jabloteh on Sept. 15) and Mexico (vs. Toluca on Oct. 20).

Here's what the rest of the season's schedule looks like:

9/9:
vs. Wizards
(MLS)
9/12: vs. Sounders FC (MLS)
9/15: @ Jabloteh (CCL)
9/24: vs. Marathon (CCL)
9/27: vs. Earthquakes (MLS)
9/30: vs. Jabloteh (CCL)
10/3: vs. Chivas USA (MLS)
10/17: vs. Crew (MLS)
10/20: @ Toluca (CCL)
10/24: @ Wizards (MLS)
United is one of only two teams in MLS who have not lost at home in 2009, with a record of 5-0-5 at RFK Stadium (Columbus is 7-0-4 at home). At home. the team has scored 15 goals, while allowing only eight (tied for the fewest allowed at home in the League).
How do you feel about United's current standing? A couple of wins at home would put the team in good position, no?
