The third edition of D.C. United’s From the Vault series captures the Black-and-Red’s first ever win at the historic RFK Stadium on May 1, 1996. Going up against tough opposition in the Dallas Burn, United were able to come away with a convincing 3-1 victory to gather momentum in their inaugural season. Raúl Diaz Arce converted from the penalty spot to open the scoring for the Black-and-Red in the 15th minute. The Burn equalized moments before halftime, with a successful penalty kick of their own. In the 53rd minute, Marco Etcheverry broke the deadlock by scoring the first of his many goals for United with a perfectly placed free kick leaving the keeper frozen. To finish the game off, Steve Rammel combined with John Harkes to open his scoring account for the Black-and-Red and give United a 3-1 victory.
