After spending the entire month of June at home, D.C. United will hit the road for the Fourth of July. Their destination is Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas where they will take on FC Dallas in another battle for three points. Here is everything you need to know about the Black-and-Redā€™s next opponent.

Recent Matches

FC Dallas currently sits in the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference standings, with 29 points in 17 games so far this season. They are 2-1-2 in their last five MLS matches, with their most recent game being a 1-0 loss on the road against the Portland Timbers. Their two wins in June came at their home stadium; in fact, they havenā€™t lost a game at Toyota Stadium since early May.

Players to Watch

FC Dallas is pretty even in terms of goals scored and goals allowed this season. Jesus Ferreira leads the team with five goals and four assists this season. He had two assists in the 3-0 win over Toronto and a goal in Dallasā€™s 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Dominique Badji and Michael Barrios have also had an impact on the offense; Badji has four goals on the season, including two in their last five matches, and Barrios has two assists. These three players are the main attackers for FC Dallas and will likely play a role in the match on Thursday night.

The defense is led by goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez, who has featured for the U.S. menā€™s national team. He has three shutouts this season, including one against Toronto FC a few weeks ago. But usually, FC Dallas allows at least one or two goals and relies on their offense to outscore the opposing team.

Head-to-Head

D.C. United played one game against FC Dallas late in the 2018 season at Audi Field. It was a 1-0 win for the Black-and-Red, with a goal in the 86th minute from Russell Canouse.

The last time D.C. United traveled to Toyota Stadium, it was a 4-2 victory for the home team. Despite going up 1-0 early in the match, FC Dallas assaulted the D.C. United net at the end of the first half and beginning of the second. A late goal was a bit of consolation for the Black-and-Red, but they werenā€™t able to overcome their defensive woes.
