D.C. United are coming off a 1-1 draw with Eastern Conference rivals Toronto FC on June 29 at Audi Field.  Former D.C. United player Nick DeLeon opened the scoring for the Canadian side in the 19th minute after Richie Laryea picked him out in the six-yard box for an easy finish.  United dominated possession throughout the match, but struggled to create clear goal scoring chances.  In the 90th minute, FrĆ©dĆ©ric Brillant was brought down in the box during a corner kick.  The referee originally did not spot the foul, but after taking another look through VAR, he awarded the penalty to United which Wayne Rooney converted to tie the game in the dying seconds.
In their last match, FC Dallas recorded a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps on June 26 at Toyota Stadium.  After a goalless first half, Dallas opened the scoring in the 55th minute through Jesus Ferreria.  FC Dallas would then go up 2-0 four minutes later after Ryan Hollingshead finished a side-footed effort from just inside the box.  It would take Vancouver until the 81st minute to get their first goal as Yordy Reyna finished a left footed effort from close range.  Then in stoppage time Lucas Venuto scored a long range effort to rescue a point for the Whitecaps.
