  • United midfielder Yamil Asad made his return from injury and made his first start for the Black-and-Red since starting on Aug. 26 against the New York Red Bulls. 
  • Luciano Acosta scored his ninth goal of the season in the 17th minute. Acosta has scored four goals in his last five games. 
  • Asad tallied his seventh assist of the season when he assisted Acosta's goal.
  • United midfielder Paul Arriola scored his second brace of the season when he scored in the 61st and 78th minutes. The brace was Arriola's first since scoring two in the first game in Audi Field's history, a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
  • United captain Wayne Rooney also tallied his second brace of the season when he scored in the 48th and 82nd minutes. Rooney now has seven goals and seven assists in 14 appearances with the Black-and-Red.
  • Acosta picked up his 14th, 15th and 16th assists of the season when he assisted Rooney's 48th minute goal and both of Paul Arriola's goals. Acosta is now the MLS leader in assists with 16, and is now fifth place all-time in assists in club history with 31.
  • Asad recorded his second assist of the game when he assisted on Rooney's goal. 
  • United goalkeeper Bill Hamid recorded his second clean sheet of 2018 and his first since United's 2-0 win over the New England Revolution on Aug. 19. 
  • This was the first time the Black-and-Red have scored five goals since their 6-2 victory over the Chicago fire on Aug. 27, 2016.
