Chris Durkin Earns Call Up To USMNT U-20's Camp

D.C. United's highly touted Homegrown midfielder Chris Durkin received another call-up for international duties this January. The U.S. Under-20, Under-19, and Under-17 Men’s National Teams will start 2019 with a three-team training camp from Jan. 4-13 at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. D.C. United's Durkin has been called into action by U.S. Under-20 Men’s head coach, Tab Ramos.

The Homegrown talent is fresh off his most successful year in the top flight yet. Durkin appeared in 23 games (16 starts) for the Black-and-Red this season, tallying his first MLS assist against Real Salt Lake. This will be Durkin’s second stint on international duty. In 2017, Durkin was an essential player in the success of the U-17's 2017 World Cup run and will look to utilize his national team experience to give the U-20’s team stability on the backend.

The camp begins an important year for the Men’s Youth National Teams. The U-20 MNT qualified for this summer’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland by winning its second-straight Concacaf U-20 Championship last November. Coming off of last month’s Nike International Friendlies, the U-17 MNT continues its preparation for the 2018 Concacaf U-17 Championship this spring, where the team will aim to qualify for October’s 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.

The camp will feature three games between the U.S. squads and a to-be-determined opponent that will be open to the public.
