United midfielder Luciano Acosta is up for MLS' AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 29! Fans can vote for Acosta once between now and midnight PT on Wednesday, Sept. 19.
Acosta scored off a sublime chip over the New York Red Bulls' Luis Robles in the 87th minute of the match in what was arguably one of United's best goals of the year. After connecting with fellow Argentine Yamil Asad on a give-and-go, Acosta dribbled toward the six-yard box and directly at Robles, whom he calmly chipped.
The midfielder also tallied an assist in the 3-3 draw, splitting two New York defenders to feed Paul Arriola in the box for the first goal of the match. Acosta now has eight goals and 13 assists on the season, setting new single-season highs in both categories. The Argentine is also tied for third-most assists in MLS.
