Head Coach Ben Olsen

On instructions to the team after conceding the equalizer…
“You have seen us lose leads at times this year and what I’m most pleased about overall tonight were the three points and how we got them. It was going to take us coming back after we lost the lead, which has been a sore spot and cause for frustration this year. It was a soft goal we gave up and we we missed a few chances leading up to their goal. There was some great combination play and we weren’t lucky enough to get the second or third goal. For us to come back and find a goal was a little fortunate, but we still had good numbers in the box and sometimes you make your own luck. I’m very proud of the team.”

On Russell Canouse’s performance…
“I thought Russell [Canouse] was great. He is very athletic, covers a lot of ground quickly and he gets on opponents fast. His duel winning ability is as good as we have on the team and you saw that tonight. He steps in and starts an attack for us much in a way that Perry [Kitchen] used to. He is physical, relentless and a fighter, so it was nice to have that out there tonight. I think at times this year we have missed that.”

On Wayne’s injury…
“I don’t think it’s the first time he's bled in a game. He is a tough guy and I think that he will shake it off. But again, it shows you what this means to him right now. He is in the box, putting his face on the line, understanding that this is a big moment. They are good on set pieces and we needed that. We needed that play to get us out of that spot and he's selfless in that way. He has been fantastic in every aspect, in every way that we want him to be with this group… with his leadership and goal-scoring ability. Hopefully, it can continue to get better.”

On the importance of this win…
“Psychologically, this is huge for our group. A tie would have been a tough result today and that’s the reality. For us to have that kind of mentality where come back from the other team scoring a late goal which has been our Achilles heel all year to turn that around and get a winner… I think psychologically this was a huge boost for the team right now.”

Midfielder Russell Canouse

On his performance tonight...
"It is pretty special for me. Obviously, being out for a decent amount of time, that being my first start and having the commitment from the team. Getting the three points was pretty special. So I was very glad to be a part of it tonight."

On finding his rhythm on the ball tonight...

"I think it was pretty good tonight. I tried to be tuned in from the first minute on. Obviously, my fitness was a little tough I felt it after the first 25 minutes and I made sure I got refocused so I could continue trying to get to second balls and be there when my team needed me."

On the team being owed something for their efforts...

"Yeah, I think we have seen it from the past games, the offensive quality. We needed to play well on both sides of the ball; I think the team was committed when we were attacking and obviously defensively as well. So, that led to the three points. We had the little mistake at the end but we fought back and the guys coming off the bench were ready and obviously made a difference. I have watched, being off the field, how the team plays and I have still tried to measure the guys even though I had not been in training for the first four months. I was in and out of training for the four months, not playing, but I still tried to make sure I was involved."

On playing 87 minutes tonight...

"It is important for me, to build up my fitness. I think for me personally feeling fit I am that much better in those situations where I can continuously press and win balls and tackles. It is something I want to build on and tonight was a good night. I can continually build on my fitness so I can keep doing that for the full 90, that's my goal."

On how important this result is to the club...

"I think the next 16 games, every game is important but obviously any time you get a win you want to start a run and build on it. That is our goal going forward and next week on an away game we want to try and get three points, it does not matter who it is. I think we can build on a performance like tonight."

On being able to return at Audi Field...

"Last time I started I was a part of the 'Last Call at RFK' so that was something special and now obviously I came back at a good time. I would have liked to be a part of the earlier games, any game I could have been a part of to help the team would have made me happy, but this is also special for the fans and my family and everyone involved."

Midfielder Ulises Segura
On his intention with his ball into the box...

“My teammate gave me the ball in space, I tried to look and wait for some movement from my teammates up front, and then just tried to hit it in. It’s never luck. Whenever you get in the box like that, you try to hit it as hard as you can so it either hits one of your teammates or it hits a defender and you get something out of it.”

On getting minutes the past two matches...

“First, I want to thank God and my family for helping me get over the injury and get back in the team. It felt great to be out there again and I want to obviously keep adding minutes and eventually get back in the starting XI.”

Colorado Head Coach Anthony Hudson

On the match…
"Disappointing to concede there in the end after putting in hard work to get back into the game. We didn’t start incredibly strong, but for periods of the game we played some really good football. We scored a really good goal to get back in the game. It’s devastating for the lads with how the game ended."

Positives to take away...
"I’m definitely encouraged with tonight having two new players in the starting XI. We had periods of control and grew in confidence in possession. The players responded well and deserved to get back in the game."

On Kellyn Acosta…
"I thought he had a really good debut. To be thrown into his first game with a bunch of new players, I think he did really well. He’ll only get stronger and I was pleased. Scored a great goal in the end there."

On the penalty miss…
"There was no panic at halftime. We knew we could get back into the game. Missing the penalty didn’t phase Kellyn. I knew he would take his chance. This is a tough place to come - big, loud crowd. Overall an encouraging performance."

Colorado Midfielder Kellyn Acosta

On the match, penalty miss…
"I was disappointed to not bury that chance. That changes the whole game. The team fought back. We let in a tough goal but got back into the game. Unlucky in the end. It’s good to get on the score sheet, but soccer is a team sport. We wanted to win, and didn’t get the job done. So it’s disappointing."

On taking the penalty…
"I was confident, I wanted it. Even if it was the inside of the post, Ousted might’ve been there anyway to save it. Obviously disappointing, but I’ll get back to the training ground and be ready for another opportunity if it comes to me."
