D.C. United have acquired $150,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) from Columbus Crew SC in exchange for forward Patrick Mullins.
The 26-year-old forward made 44 MLS regular season appearances for the Black-and-Red (26 starts) since being acquired on July 20, 2016 from New York City FC. He scored 13 goals and recorded three assists in three seasons with the Black-and-Red. Mullins was United’s joint leading scorer last season with five goals.
“This move will provide us with assets and flexibility for future moves,” Dave Kasper, United general manager and VP of soccer operations, said. "We wish Mullins the best in Columbus and thank him for his service to the club.”
Mullins made history on Sept. 23 against San Jose, scoring four goals in 31 minutes to become the first player in MLS history to score four times in a half. He earned an MLS Player of the Week selection for his performance in the match.
