Mattocks' equalizer secures a draw against the Galaxy in LA -

United used a late dramatic equalizer to secure a draw in the final game of their long road trip, tying the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-2 Wednesday night at the StubHub Center.

Darren Mattocks scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season at the 85th minute to tie the game at two and secure a point. The goal set a new career-high for Mattocks, topping his seven goal rookie season in 2012.

The Galaxy jumped into an early lead five minutes into the match when Zlatan Ibrahimovic fired off a volley from a Dave Romney cross past United goalkeeper David Ousted.

LA added to their lead when former United midfielder Chris Pontius fired a strike from distance that blazed past Ousted to make it 2-0 at the 25th minute.

United answered back quickly, though, when Luciano Acosta pushed through the middle and toward goal. With Zoltán Stieber make a run on the right flank, Acosta slipped the ball into the penalty area where Stieber slipped it passed Galaxy goalkeeper David Bingham to cut the deficit to one at the 26th minute.

The Black-and-Red found their attacking rhythm in the second half and tested Bingham at various points in the latter half until making a breakthrough at the 85th minute.

Paul Arriola charged down the left side and sent a pass to an onrushing Mattocks in the area, who then made a move past a defender across goal where he fired it past Bingham to make it 2-2.

United will finally return home to The District where they will christen Audi Field on July 14 at 8 PM ET against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Limited tickets have been released for the highly-anticipated opener.
