Introducing the newest kit to add to your collection: Wayne Rooney’s Black-and-Red #9. Per transfer window regulations, the Rooney D.C. United jersey will be available for purchase once the summer transfer window officially opens on July 10.

Rooney will be donning #9 for the first time in his club career, but the forward has worn the number for the England national team several times over the years.

He first appeared wearing #9 in 2002 for England and continued to rep’ the number until 2009. The Englishman reached numerous milestones with #9 on his back, including scoring his first goal in 2003 against Macedonia to become England’s youngest goal scorer of all-time at 17 years and 317 days old.

The world also saw Rooney wear the #9 shirt in the world’s biggest soccer competitions, including European qualifiers and World Cup qualification games.

Past D.C. United players who have donned #9 include Jaime Moreno (1996-2002), Earnie Stewart (2003), Freddy Adu (2004-2006), Charlie Davies (2011), and Alvaro Saborio (2015-2016).
