2018 Generation adidas Cup Finals schedule announced

The 2018 Generation adidas Cup Finals schedule has been announced, with D.C. United Academy's U-17s set to play three Group A, Champions Division matches in the tournament's final round in Frisco, Texas. 


The Black-and-Red open competition against Argentina's C.A. River Plate at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, March 23. In their second match, the U-17s face fellow MLS Academy side Toronto FC at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 25. United then wrap up Group A action on Tuesday, March 27, when they take on Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt at 4:45 p.m. The match against Frankfurt will be available to livestream on mlssoccer.com


Semifinal matches will be played at Toyota Stadium on Thursday, March 29 at 5:30 and 7:15 p.m., with the final slated for Saturday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. 


The United U-17s entered the Presidents' Day Weekend portion of the Generation adidas Cup in Atlanta with a 1-2-0 record. In Atlanta, they fell 2-1 to NYCFC before bouncing back with a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union. The U-17s then closed the weekend with an emphatic 8-1 win over the New England Revolution to bring their overall record to 3-3-0 in the tournament, qualifying for the Champions Division of the Generation adidas Cup Finals. 


D.C. United's Academy will be joined by numerous other MLS academies, including the Atlanta United, FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, NYCFC, Portland Timbers, Sporting Kansas City, and Toronto FC Academies, in the Champions Division of the tournament's finale.
