D.C. United team up with Open Goal Project for open tryouts

D.C. United and the Open Goal Project have teamed up to host a free open tryout for youth players in the D.C. area who are interested in additional competitive playing opportunities with the D.C. United Academy. The tryouts will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the RFK Stadium auxiliary fields, and are open to boys in grades 4-12.

The tryouts will be held in partnership with the Open Goal Project, a nonprofit that focuses on providing underserved communities with more opportunities to play competitive soccer. The organization was founded by former MLS player and D.C. native Amir Lowery.

Tryouts will be split into three sessions as follows:

  • 4th-6th grade boys: 10-11:15 a.m.
  • 7th-9th grade boys: 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
  • 10th-12th grade boys: 1-2:15 p.m.

To register, email with the player’s name, birthdate and the name of the school they currently attend.
