This week in From the Vault, D.C. United defeated the Miami Fusion 2-1. Jaime Moreno scored a brace in United's playoff victory on Oct. 16, 1999. Five years later, United found themselves facing their bitter rivals New York for the final game of the 2004 season. Christian Gómez scored twice to beat New York in a 3-2 win on Oct. 17, 2004. Four years later, Jeff Agoos was inducted into the Hall of Tradition on Oct. 16, 2008. Agoos wore the black and red across 158 games and represented the U.S. Men’s National Team at two World Cups through 134 games. Four years later, United broke a five-year playoff drought with a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Columbus Crew. Nick DeLeon set a new franchise rookie record with his sixth goal, while Lewis Neal scored the dramatic game winner in the 92nd minute on Oct. 20, 2012. Fast forward two years and United again qualified for the playoffs with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire on Oct. 18, 2014. In the same year, the U.S. Women’s National Team defeated Haiti at RFK in an emphatic 6-0 victory.
