United academy player travels to Africa to deliver soccer equipment

For Black-and-Red academy player Issa Mudashiru, spring break did not mean relaxing at home, enjoying time away from school and no homework.  The Under-13 defender chose to spend his week-long break far from home, in Abidjan, the economic capital of the Ivory Coast in West Africa. After receiving new and lightly-used soccer gear and D.C. United apparel from his academy teammates and coaches as well as classmates, Mudashiru met with Boukary Bamogo, a coach at one of the Ivory Coast's most popular national soccer academies, ASEC-Mimosas.

Mudashiru distributed the gear to members of the club, which has produced Yaya and Kolo Toure, and wants to make the event an annual trip.  "Thanks again to everyone at the D.C. United academy who cheerfully donated items or contributed in some way to help make this trip successful," he said.
