From The Vault | May 1-7

This week in From the Vault, the Washington Diplomats's inaugural game against the Philadelphia Atoms took place at RFK on May 4, 1974. On May 1, 1996, Marco Etcheverry scored his first goal in Major League Soccer to help D.C. United secure the club's first ever win. Jaime Moreno scored a brace in a 2-0 win over the LA Galaxy on May 2, 1997, to score in his fifth straight game (Moreno's streak continued to six straight on May 4, 1997 at the Dallas Burn).

On May 2, 2009, Jaime Moreno recorded his final multi-goal match for D.C. United in a 2-0 win against FC Dallas. Over 8,000 fans watched the Washington Freedom of the Womens Professional Soccer league notch a 3-1 win over Saint Louis Athletica in their final match at RFK on May 1, 2010. On May 5, 2010, Bill Hamid became the youngest keeper in MLS history to win a regular season game recording 5 saves in a 2-1 victory vs the Kansas City Wizards.
