United forward José Ortiz called up to Costa Rican squad for World Cup Qualifiers

United forward José Ortiz, who made his MLS debut in the Black-and-Red's home opener against Sporting Kansas City, has been named to the Costa Rican national team ahead of their World Cup Qualifiers during the upcoming FIFA international window.

Ortiz, 24, joins los Ticos for the matches against Mexico on March 24 at the Azteca Stadium and Honduras three days later at Francisco Morazan Estadio Olimpico.  Costa Rica are currently atop the Hexagonal with a perfect six points from their first two matches.

The on-loan forward made his international debut in January for Costa Rica and scored a brace in his first-ever appearance against Belize in the 2017 Copa Centroamericana tournament.
