Preview | Special Olympics D.C. Unified Team to play Special Olympics NJ

The D.C. United Special Olympics DC (SODC) Unified Soccer Team return home this Sunday for the first time following their road trip to Columbus, OH last month. The team will conclude their 2016 campaign with a final home match against the New York Red Bulls Special Olympics NJ at RFK Stadium Sunday, August 21 beginning at 1:30 PM on the RFK turf field prior to the match against the New York Red Bulls.

The D.C. United SODC Unified Team was officially signed last month. Led by coaches Anthony Sokenu and Rodney Williams, the team will look to stay undefeated after earning a 5-1 victory over Special Olympics Ohio at MAPFRE stadium last month.


The Special Olympics Unified Sports soccer exchange program is an on-going partnership between MLS WORKS, Special Olympics and D.C. United that brings individuals with and without intellectual disabilities together as teammates to participate in unique training, competition and social experiences.
