WASHINGTON – D.C. United (2-0-0, 6 points) won its second straight match in the 2015-16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, defeating Jamaican side Montego Bay United, 3-0, at RFK Stadium.
The Black-and-Red moved into sole possession of first place in Group H, ahead of Árabe Unido (1-1-0, 3 points) of Panama and Montego Bay (0-2-0, zero points). Árabe Unido will visit RFK Stadium on Sept. 15, and D.C. United will finish group play with a return match against Montego Bay in Jamaica on Sept. 22.
Rookie midfielder Miguel Aguilar scored his second Champions League goal in as many games, again off a pass from Michael Farfan, who finished with two assists. Kofi Opare and Conor Doyle also scored for the Black-and-Red. Opare has now scored in three competitions this season: the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the MLS regular season, and the Champions League.
Goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra finished with three saves, and Markus Halsti captained the side for the second straight Champions League game. The introduction of Farfan into the starting lineup instead of Steven Birnbaum was the only change from the starting group that faced Árabe Unido in Panama six days prior.
United has now won six straight matches in Champions League group play.
D.C. United returns to action Aug. 30 against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. (FOX Sports 1, 7 p.m.).
