On Sunday, April 13, the U-14s beat the Virginia Rush 3-0. SahrFelix Sandy (Woodbridge, Va.; Prince William Soccer Inc.) put United on the score sheet in the 40th minute to give them the 1-0 lead going into halftime. Andres Villanueva (Woodbridge, Va.; Prince William Soccer Inc.) and Alexis Cerritos (Beltsville, Md.; Cerritos Academy) both added goals in the second half for the 3-0 win. Goalkeeper Kyle Frye kept a clean sheet for the U-14s.

“The Rush played with a lot of pressure and had many counter attacks,” said D.C. United Director of Youth Development Sonny Silooy. “We played much better in the second half because we had the advantage of the wind. We started playing precise and attacking soccer and converted our chances.”

Man of the Match: Chris Durkin

“Chris played very well against the Rush. He controlled the middle of the field and distributed the ball nicely,” said Silooy. “He was focused and worked hard to defend and create attacking chances.”
