D.C. United today announced that Troy Scott has been named Senior Advisor for Stadium Development and Operations, effective Monday, Nov. 11, 2013.

“Troy is going to be a key part of our team as we continue the planning for our new home in Buzzard Point,” said D.C. United Chief Operating Officer Michael Williamson. “His knowledge and experience of city agencies and contractors within the District, combined with his outside-the-box thinking, will be instrumental as we move forward with the development of a world-class facility in D.C.”

Previously, Scott spent 17 years working with Events DC, most recently in the role of Vice President of Operations, Sports and Entertainment.

“I am excited to be part of this storied organization and have the opportunity to be involved with the development of a state of the art facility in D.C.,” said Scott. “I am determined to help not only enhance the experience for our devoted fans, but to also incorporate elements that are beneficial to our community and city.”

On July 25, 2013, Mayor Vincent C. Gray and D.C. United announced the signing of the public-private partnership term sheet to build a new, world-class soccer stadium in the Buzzard Point area of Southwest, D.C. In addition to the term sheet, the Black-and-Red also signed a labor agreement, on Sept. 10, 2013, with the District of Columbia to get the club in its proposed new stadium at Buzzard Point in time for the 2016 MLS season.
