D.C United hires new Director of Community Relations

D.C. United today announced that Victor Melara has been named Director of Community Relations, effective Monday, Nov. 18, 2013.


Melara, bilingual in English and Spanish, was born and raised in the District of Columbia and previously worked at Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and Discovery Communications connecting products and services to local and national communities.


“We are excited to have Victor join our staff,” said D.C. United Chief Operating Officer Michael Williamson. “With his previous work experience and first-hand knowledge of the District, we look forward to Victor continuing and building our relationship with our surrounding community.”


Born and raised in the Latino community based in Mt. Pleasant, located in the Northwest section of D.C., Melara grew up an avid Black-and-Red fan.


"I'm excited and humbled to join an organization that I grew up supporting," said Melara. "It's a privilege to build upon the success D.C. United has had in serving the community.”
