Player Connections: D.C. United and Houston Dynamo

Chris Korb  vs Houston Dynamo

DWAYNE De ROSARIO

& Corey Ashe


  • Ashe was teammates with De Rosario on the Dynamo from 2007-08, and the two won an MLS Cup together in 2007. The championship match in 2007 was played at RFK Stadium where the Dynamo defeated the New England Revolution 2-1.


& Brian Ching


  • Ching was teammates with De Rosario on the San Jose Earthquakes from 2003-05 and then the Dynamo from 2006-08. Ching and De Rosario won three MLS Cups together, one with San Jose in 2003 and two with Houston in 2006 and 2007. The championship match in 2007 was played at RFK Stadium where the Dynamo defeated the New England Revolution 2-1.


& Ricardo Clark


  • Clark was teammates with De Rosario on the San Jose Earthquakes in 2005 and then the Dynamo from 2006-08. Clark and De Rosario won two MLS Cups together, both with Houston in 2006 and 2007. The championship match in 2007 was played at RFK Stadium where the Dynamo defeated the New England Revolution 2-1.


& Brad Davis


  • Davis was teammates with De Rosario on the San Jose Earthquakes in 2005 and then the Dynamo from 2006-08. Davis and De Rosario won two MLS Cups together, both with Houston in 2006 and 2007. The championship match in 2007 was played at RFK Stadium where the Dynamo defeated the New England Revolution 2-1.


& Bobby Boswell


  • Boswell was teammates with De Rosario at Houston in 2008. Boswell started his MLS career with D.C. United in 2005 and played with the team through 2007 and was subsequently traded to Houston in 2008.


NICK DeLEON

& Will Bruin


  • DeLeon led his Louisville Cardinals to a 1-0 victory over Bruin’s Indiana Hoosiers in the spring of 2011. Six months later, DeLeon guided Louisville to a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Indiana.


& Alex Dixon


  • Dixon registered a game-tying assist for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in a 2-1 loss to DeLeon’s Louisville Cardinals in the semifinal of the 2010 NCAA College Cup.


& Kofi Sarkodie


  • Sarkodie (and D.C. United’s Perry Kitchen and Chris Korb) played at the University of Akron together, defeating DeLeon’s Lousiville Cardinals 1-0 in the 2010 NCAA College Cup championship game.


PERRY KITCHEN

& Kofi Sarkodie


  • Sarkodie was teammates with Kitchen (along with D.C. United teammate Chris Korb) on the 2010 NCAA College Cup-winning Akron Zips. Akron claimed the National Championship by defeating D.C. United midfielder Nick DeLeon’s Louisville Cardinals 1-0.


CHRIS KORB

& Kofi Sarkodie


  • Played with Sarkodie on the 2009 College Cup runner-up team that fell to the University of Virginia (UVA) in the championship game that finished 0-0 and went to a penalty shootout ending (3-2) in favor of UVA. They also played together (along with D.C. United teammate Perry Kitchen) on the 2010 College Cup-winning Akron Zips squad. Akron claimed the National Championship, defeating D.C. United midfielder Nick DeLeon’s Louisville Cardinals 1-0 in the final.


& Brian Ownby


  • Kitchen played against Ownby’s University of Virginia (UVA) Cavaliers in the 2009 College Cup final, ending 0-0 in double overtime and 3-2 in a penalty shootout in favor of the Cavaliers. Ownby came in as a substitute in the match while Korb started and went 90 minutes.


CHRIS PONTIUS

& Calen Carr


  • Carr tallied an assist in Cal’s 2-0 win over Pontius’ University of California-Santa Barbara (UCSB) Gauchos in the 2005 UCSB Adidas Classic.


& Tally Hall


  • Pontius’ University of California-Santa Barbara Gauchos defeated Hall’s San Diego State University Aztecs 2-1 in the first round of the 2006 College Cup. UCSB would go on to win the 2006 NCAA Men’s Soccer national championship.


BRANDON MCDONALD

& Cam Weaver


  • Weaver was teammates with McDonald on the San Jose Earthquakes during the 2009 season. McDonald played in 18 games (18 starts) while Weaver played in nine (five starts) for a team that had a 7-14-9 record in 2009.


& Calen Carr


  • McDonald’s University of San Francisco (USF) Dons met Carr’s Cal Bears in a match on 9/16/05 in which Carr tallied twice to lead the Golden Bears to a 2-1 win. McDonald was a sophomore and Carr was a senior at their respective programs.


& Eric Brunner


  • McDonald’s USF Dons met Brunner’s Ohio State Buckeyes in a match on 9/10/06, ending in a 1-1 draw. Both players started the match opposite each other.


DANIEL WOOLARD

& Calen Carr


  • Carr was a teammate of Woolard’s (along with D.C. United’s John Thorrington) in the 2007-2009 seasons at the Chicago Fire. Woolard played in 16 games (six starts) and notched a goal, while Carr featured in 45 games (12 starts), tallying five goals and two assists within that time frame. The Fire had a 34-27-29 record in the years both players were with Chicago.
