Levien, dignitaries sign labor agreement

Signing PLA 2013

D.C. United Managing Partner Jason Levien joined Mayor Vincent C. Gray, City Administrator Allen Y. Lew, National Building and Construction Trades Council Secretary-Treasurer Brent Booker and Department of Employment Services Director Lisa Mallory this afternoon at Nationals Park to agree to a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) for the construction of United's proposed stadium at Buzzard Point.

The PLA will allow for the stadium to be constructed on time and on budget. It will provide employment opportunities for District residents and business opportunities for local, small and disadvantaged companies in the city. The agreement is structured similarly to the PLA used for construction of Nationals Park.

In late July, the District government and United signed a private/public partnership agreement to build a state-of-the-art $300 million, 20-25,000-seat soccer stadium in Southwest Washington DC, across from the South Capitol Street home of the Washington Nationals.
