Jared Jeffery 8-24-13

Captain Dwayne De Rosario made his presence known early in the match, finishing into the top corner with a world-class strike. Adding this goal to his score-sheet, De Rosario now joins Luis Silva as D.C. United’s leading scorer with three tallies.

Perry Kitchen has been the engine of the DCU midfield this season, leading the squad in minutes played with 2,143 minutes. Adding last night’s assist to De Rosario, Kitchen now leads the team in assists as well, with three on the year.

During last night’s battle, 10 of the Black-and-Red’s starting 11 went 90 minutes, fighting hard to earn a point. United had almost double the amount of shots on goal than Toronto, and though Joe Bendik and the TFC backline were there to make saves, all twelve contributing players on DCU pushed forward, took chances and fought hard.
